A Pastor, A Mama, And The Mouse

Let’s Chat Disney’s Riviera!

We are big Disney fans … that’s without say. We were engaged in Mary Poppins Gardens at the Grand Floridian on Christmas Night. We were married while docked in Nassau, Bahamas on the Disney Dream and then honeymooned for a week while staying at Bay Lake Tower. From the time N was 18 months old we have taken many, many trips and even became DVC members (Disney Vacation Club) and have spent many a nights at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Pop Century and I have even stayed at the All Star Sports when I was in High School and my marching band led the Dreams Come True parade down Main Street USA in Magic Kingdom.

This time around we wanted to try something new. We were celebrating my 34th birthday and N’s 10th – so my husband decided to go big while going home. So away he went and booked a 2 bedroom villa at the Riviera Resort. And let me just say I loved every second of it! To be honest I was not a fan of Bay Lake Tower because I felt like it didn’t have that Disney touch to it. It was just a nice hotel that had a view of the castle – but the Riviera it was *chefs kiss*. It was a beautiful French hotel with so many subtle Disney themes and nods.

They say a picture says a thousand words so let me shut up and just show you!

When you first walked into the room and looked to the left and the right were the two bathrooms. And the closet space was ???????????????? Two huge walk in closets in the main entry way AND a laundry room.

Back to the bathrooms – there were 3 showers, 2 tubs, 2 toilets and so much space!

Walking forward we entered the kitchen and living area. Full kitchen with everything you could need to cook if that is what your plan is! The living room had a Murphy bed under the TV and a Murphy bed (is that what it’s called?) that came down out of the wall where the couch was – it was super cool!

The master bedroom had a king size bed, door to the balcony, huge closet and it’s own bathroom with a jet tub, as well as a second part of the bathroom with the toilet and shower.

And can we just take a moment and appreciate the gorgeous night time view that we had.

Back to the room. So we have seen the main living space and the master bathroom. The second bathroom and the bedroom was just as nice!

We fell in love with the room immediately. As a family that normally books a studio this 2 bedroom was so spacious and gave us the exact vacation and relaxation vibe that we were looking for. Now – all that being said there was a few cons that I was not a fan of – the Disney bubble I felt was burst. You could hear a lot of sirens out on the main road and helicopters were flying over what seemed like constantly. The walls also seemed paper thin and even in the bedrooms you could still hear people in the halls and above you and below you and out in the pool area.

Now, was it enough to make us not ever stay there again absolutely not – but I just wanted you all to be in the know!

The artwork in the resort was absolutely incredible. I didn’t get pictures of everything, but it was Disney themed while still being refined. They even had movie posters of some popular recent films all in French as if we were actually staying in France … they had Vice Versa (Inside Out) and Zootropolis (Zootopia) as well as a few others! They even had a scavenger hunt for Pascal! There were signs everywhere that said to be on the lookout for him and if you found him leave him be but take a picture with him and bring it to the Eventi Room and you would get a prize! Sadly – the girls and I never found him, but it was so fun to tour the resort while looking for him!

And of course my incredibly handsome husband and I on the skyliner. We were so excited to be on a skyliner resort but can I just say – HOW … HOW … does one get off of the skyliner gracefully?? Because this girl just doesn’t have it.

All in all I would give the Riviera a 9/10. It was beautiful. It was romantic. I would definitely come back and do a resort stay where all we do is stay it the resort and maybe hit the springs instead of going into the parks every day. There was so much to do and see and in our short 4 day 3 night stay we couldn’t do or see it all. But nothing. and I mean …. the ONLY thing better than coffee on the balcony in a Disney Resort is Jesus …

When you go to Disney world do you stay on property??? If so what is your favorite resort??? Let me know in the comments below!

And as always,
